Lipscomb Davis started Davis Cabinet Co in 1929. He worked for Standard Furniture in Nashville since 1911. During his years as superintendent at Standard he formed a free floating theory for solid wood manufacture of furniture. Further, he envisioned a ready waiting market for the kind of quality and style he intended as the hallmark of his furniture. Foremost, furniture made of the finest select hard woods. He purchased Standard in 1929 to form Davis Cabinet Co, and it is still in production today.
