Landscape art is the most popular art when it comes to what people buy the most. It is a beautiful way to bring the outside into your home. It can serve as a remembrance from a vacation or even motivation for where you want to go next! The hunt for the perfect landscape art piece can be a chore, though. So if you've got an empty wall just hankering for a new piece of art, I genuinely hope this helps fill that void.
You'll find here ten diverse artists that all paint landscapes as part of their repertoire. There is a range of price points and scale, as well as all offer prints of their originals.
I unwittingly used a plethora of beach landscapes to inspire buying a beach home, which wasn't even on my radar.
Art can be transformative in ways that you don't even recognize!
Landscape Art Styles
I thought I would start with a description of the various styles of art, in broad terms, to make it less intimidating. Landscape art, still lifes, portraits, etc, can all be achieved in any one of these painting styles.
Realism was prevalent before photography existed and there are many artists that today strive for a painterly interpretation of reality..
Impressionism is a very common artist practice and can be achieved with many different mediums, such as oil, acrylic, guache, etc.
Abstract Impressionist art is less representational and may leave you pondering whether it's a landscape or not. Abstracted landscapes in particular, may or may not actually look like a landscape when complete.
Modern art can be many things. Any paint medium may be used, or even multiple paint mediums in the same piece. Its surface could be collaged with other materials, such as paper, patterns, string, etc., whatever inspires them may end up on the canvas.
There are many shades of grey between these styles. Some of the best artists never fit within a clear-cut category, regardless it's helpful to know what you're drawn to before you decide to buy. It especially makes it easier to shop online for art.
So whatever style you're drawn to, I've probably got an artist or two that you will be interested in. For each, I've also listed a link to their Instagram as well as their websites.
Christopher Long
Chris's work is, en plein air, which is just a fancy art term for painting outside from real life. He lives in New England but travels much of the year in a motor home, giving him access to numerous diverse landscape scenes.
I find his oil paintings, and digital paintings are both spectacular. Very expressive and full of emotion.
Catherine's landscape work ranges the gamut, from impressionist and abstract impressionist, and recently offering some bold, pure abstracts. Her medium is acrylic and the outdoors. She is known for her bright colored landscapes, skies and sunsets. They are graphic, bold and equally soothing to view. She offers originals, prints and other items adorned with her art, including Samsung Frame TV art files. She is located in Portland, Oregon and is such a treasure for our Pacific Northwest climate.
I discovered Megan on Instagram about seven years ago. I fell in love with her mini landscapes in bold frames. I just loved them and purchased 3 for my personal collection. She has many available now and also does larger pieces.
Megan's style is muted, soft and contemplative. She paints mostly with deep ochres and browns that transition subtlety. I find her art to feel like reading classic literature such as Henry David Thoreau or Emily Bronte.
I can spend HOURS looking at her art. The landscapes and abstracts are so mesmerizing. Susannah is a Canadian artist who works in acrylics. She offers smaller pieces as well that she considers true abstracts. You must check her out if you love color!
I purchased this gorgeous landscape from Susannah around 2017 or 2018. I love the fluidity in her interpretation of a landscape,

Marina Ester Castaldo
If you've ever seen a photo of the painted hills of Vinicunca, also known as the Mountain of Seven Colors, in the Peruvian Andes; you'll appreciate Marina's work. It is vibrant, happy and full of life! Marina is an Italian artist, residing in London. She does original and digital art prints and offers shipping worldwide.
“Art is our one true global language.
It knows no nation, it favors no race, and it acknowledges no class. It speaks to our need to reveal, heal, and transform. It transcends our ordinary lives and lets us imagine what is possible.”
Richard Kamler
Donna Walker
Donna is a palette knife oil painter. This means she uses the palette knife intended to mix oil paint, to actually paint with. Her work is abstracted but the landscape subject matter is still clearly there. I love the palette knife painting process because the artist is forced to abandon detail and instead display what makes that particular visit special.
I find her use of color and composition really beautiful. I have a small Donna Walker landscape on my walls and hope to purchase more in the future.
Thor paints in oil, plein air, (outside from real life). His subject matter is New York City and the Bershire hills. I am most attracted to his landscapes, but his city scapes are so intriguing. I find his brushwork very expressive and often feel like they are actually in movement. I often wonder how he's able to capture the hustle of a city and still capture the right about of detail. His work is available in his Etsy shop, Fine Art America and on his website.
I purchased this landscape of Thor's back in 2013. I finally framed it in 2024, and shared the process in this blog post.
I have 4 original pieces from Whitney, including this one. Her medium is oil and she works on canvas, panel and paper. Her subjects are often coastal, ocean or boat related. This image is one I own. It reminds me of the colorful beach cottages you could find in Ireland or on the east coast. There is something about how she paints that makes me feel like I'm the only one viewing it, intimate and quiet.
Julie's landscape art is vibrant and joyful, translated into a pastel paradise. If you're a fan of the dopamine decor trend, then you'll love her work. Julie lives in Texas and offers originals, prints and some really fun national park posters.
Laurie Anne is an acrylic landscape painter, who works primarily on paper and canvas. She resides in Arizona so many of her landscapes feel like the ochre hills and dry valleys of the southwest. Her prints are available in many online print shops, such as Juniper Print Shop and Dogwood Hill.
She's a pro at going from original to high quality prints in a wide range of sizes. So much so she developed a very popular online course for artists to learn her tricks. I have been one of her students and, highly recommend it myself!
I hope you found these landscape artists inspiring. There are a range of price points, and many artists offer very affordable prints. I highly recommend Instagram for finding art you love and getting inspiration for your home. Utilize the bookmark feature and organize your favorites so you can remember the art piece or the artist. Pinterest can also be a very valuable resource when shopping for art. I've created a board just about how to style art on a wall, bookshelf, staircase, etc. Check out the board here.
Below I've shared four online places to shop for art regularly.
Where to Shop for Landscape Art Online
→ Etsy; artists have their own shops and control their prices and exposure without having to have gallery representation.
→ Instagram; many artists sell directly from their posts so definitely follow your favorites!
→ Saatchi; I've purchased a few pieces off Saatchi and really love their website. They have a "visual search" feature where you can click on what you like and it'll show you more pieces that have a similarity to it. I can spend hours there, so if you love art, definitely create an account so you can save them and follow specific artists.
→ Daily Paint Works; This site is intended for artists to post their working daily. It's about encouraging artists to, just keep painting, when they may be in a rut. Really easy to find great new artists.
I hope you found this valuable. If you're in the market to buy landscape art, or even if you're just browsing, save this post for future reference. And, if you enjoyed this content, or have other feedback, don't be shy. I'd love to hear any feedback in the comments section below.
At CGS, we are developing a print collection over on a new Etsy Shop. More of this work will soon be available on the CGS website as well.

**** is a show stopper in her preppy elegance. Casey's customer service and attention to detail are incredible. including her color consultation, to find the perfect shade of green. I'm so pleased with the project and can't recommend Casey Grace highly enough.
