Ferdinand is not a known brand and will not be lacquered. He is in beautiful shape and so full of charm. This piece was hand-made in France 50+ years ago. Its construction is unique and almost primitive. It does not appear to be built with modern tools or equipment to ensure consistency. I can only imagine the stories Ferdinand could tell!
His drawers have large hand-carved dovetails on both the front and back. The back has beveled panels so it can be used in a floating design scheme. The underside of the drawers also has this same beveled panel. There is visible joinery at the edge of the top.
We sanded and refinished the top to repair some damage and replaced the missing trim around the bottom of the legs. The front right leg has some bowing inward. None of these repairs or imperfections preclude Ferdinand from being a showstopper!
Whoever reclaims him will be a fortunate soul!

This piece has its original natural wood finish. We may have stripped and repaired a section but restored the finish to match. Sometimes it makes more sense to leave well enough, alone.

Care
This has been finished in Curator, an Irish import not easy to come by in the United States. We prefer Curator for its amazing color palette and the glorious hard finish and shine that nearly matches that of lacquer. We recommend dusting often and using a very mild soap and soft sponge or microfiber cloth if necessary for spills. Do not use any cleansers with ammonia or other harsh chemicals, it will destroy the gloss finish.
