Out of stock

This is a beautiful example of Baker chinoiserie at its finest. This long narrow ming coffee table has the impression of 4 inset panels across the top. The body is all hardwood and very durable. In addition, our water-based 2k high gloss lacquer finish adds to its durability.

We do extensive prep before lacquer with the expectation that no grain, nicks or dings will be visible when it's finally buffed. Note that this piece is vintage and has been loved by prior generations so minor imperfections may still be visible.

Maker / Designer

Originally founded in 1890 by immigrant Siebe Baker from the Netherlands, Baker Furniture originally produced interior woodwork and doors in Allegan, Michigan.  Soon after starting the company they started to produce furniture. His son Hollis S. Baker joined the family business in 1910, eventually becoming President in 1961. Baker Furniture has partnered with many important designers over the decades. Their pieces are still highly sought after today, representing various design movements, modernism, art deco, chinoiserie, dutch modern, english, french provincial, just to name a few.

Care

Our lacquer finish is catalyzed (2k) at every coat. It is a very durable finish and will endure for decades with proper care. We recommend dusting often and using coasters and protective felt feet on pointed objects.

For cleaning greasy finger prints or dirty smudges, this is the product we use for the "final finish". It is waterbased and will not react with our finish. Do not substitute with a solvent-based finishing spray.  We recommend both the Meguiars Final Finish and these microfiber cloths.

Do not use any cleansers with ammonia or other harsh chemicals, it will dull the finish.
