Beautiful, classic John Widdicomb set of twin headboards with a matching nightstand to use between, a classic guest room or kids' room configuration. Back in the 1950s, we imagine the Walshes were the centerpiece of a vibrant, bustling kids’ room. The two twin headboards stood proudly, surviving kids jumping on the bed as siblings played pretend or giggled into the night. Finished in a soft green lacquer, the set was the perfect backdrop for childhood memories—bright, fresh, and full of fun. The nightstand, with its new brass hardware and drawers lined with gold and cream Greek key wallpaper, can now be the keeper of treasures—lost marbles, hand-drawn notes, and maybe even a secret stash of candy. The Walsh Set is ready to bring that same charm and playful spirit to your home.

Maker / Designer

The Widdicomb Furniture company was started in 1858 by the 4 founding Widdicomb brothers. Despite a brief interruption fighting in the Civil War, the company went on with great success. Over the years, Widdicomb merged and acquired various other furniture makers. Surviving through 2 more Wars, in 1943 T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings became the designer for the company, designing many new modern furniture styles that are still quite popular today. 

Works by the Widdicomb Furniture Company are found in the collections of the Cooper-Hewitt and the National Design Museum.  

 

Finish

We specialize in high gloss lacquer. We use a waterbased industrial wood lacquer coating, and every layer of primer, color and top coat is catalyzed. It is a very durable finish and will endure for decades with proper care.

Care

Our lacquer finish is catalyzed (2k) at every coat. It is a very durable finish and will endure for decades with proper care. We recommend dusting often and using coasters and protective felt feet on pointed objects.

For cleaning greasy finger prints or dirty smudges, this is the product we use for the "final finish". It is waterbased and will not react with our finish. Do not substitute with a solvent-based finishing spray.  We recommend both the Meguiars Final Finish and these microfiber cloths.

Do not use any cleansers with ammonia or other harsh chemicals, it will dull the finish.

Local Delivery within the Portland Metro Area is $200.00. Delivery can usually be arranged within a week.

Nationwide Shipping is provided by a private network of white glove shippers. Lead times range from 1-14 weeks depending upon season and distance.
